Let’s just begin by saying that I didn’t know 18 credits was a lot. I took Chemistry, with a lab, Biology with a lab, English, Intro to Criminal Justice and Calculus. It sounds like a dumb set up because they are such different courses, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was! Until… I got really sick and stressed out and ended up going home every other weekend. All in all, I got through the first semester pretty well, but it’s also because I had such great friends to help me along the way. When you meet friends within your major, it really makes a difference. Studying becomes a lot easier and they understand that you have a whole lot of work but you just want to chill for the night. I met some unforgettable people at my school and because they knew and understood my struggle, college was a lot easier to deal with. I wouldn’t change my first semester for anything, but don’t be held back from living the college life because of your academics. In this case, you can have your cake and eat it too!
